How to estimate cement bags in 1 cubic meter

Suppose the proportion of nominal mix is 1:2:4 (one part cement, 2 part sand and 4 part aggregate)

Wastage of cement is taken as 2%
Output of mix is provided as 67%.

For 1 cum output, the requirement of dry mix is 1/0.67 = 1.49 say 1.50 cum.
After including the wastage (2%), the output will be (1.50 + 0.02) = 1.52 cum.
Volume of cement = (cement/cement+sand+aggregate) × Total material

= (1/1+2+4) × 1.52
=0.2171 cum
The density of cement is 1440 kg/cum and
Weight of 1 bag cement = 50 kg.
So, volume of 1 bag cement = 50/1440
=0.0347 cum.
No. of cement bags essential in 1 cubic meter = 0.2171/0.0347
= 6.25 bags.
The above formula can be utilized for measuring cement for other nominal mixes.
To get more details, watch the following video tutorial.

Derivation of area of circle

This construction video will provide brief information on the formula derivation toward circle area. To estimate the area of a circle, the formula A=(πR^2) is applied. You will gather knowledge on the origin of the formula and the importance of it.
Here π stands for the ratio of the diameter of a circle to its circumference, and stands for the radius of the circle.
In geometry, the area surrounded with a circle of radius r is πr2. Here, π symbolizes a constant, roughly equivalent to 3.14159, that is the same as the ratio of the circumference of any circle to its diameter.

Go through the following video, to get the detailed process.

Download online construction estimate calculator to estimate the quantities of materials

The absolute volume method is used to work out the material quantities for forming the necessary quantity of concrete on the basis of specified mix proportions. This method is formulated following the principle that the volume of fully compacted concrete is equivalent to the absolute volume of all the materials of concrete consisting of cement, sand, coarse aggregates and water.

Depending on the type of structure, a concrete structure may contain beams, slabs, columns and foundations etc. The volume of concrete essential for concrete structure is computed by summation of the volumes of every structural member or each parts of the members. The formula for computing the volume of a rectangular cross sectional member is length x width x height (or depth or thickness). Appropriate formula should be applied for various cross-sectional shapes of members.

How to estimate the weight of a mild steel plate

By watching this exclusive construction video, you will be familiar with the method for measuring the weight of mild steel plate. The video is based on a MS square shaped steel plate and length of that plate is 1 meter, breadth is 1 meter and its thickness is 10 mm or 0.01 meter.

In order to find out weight, you should know the volume and density of the steel plate and then multiply volume with density i.e. volume x density.

Formula for detecting the volume = Length x Breadth x Height i.e. 1 x 1 x 0.01 m = 0.01 m3

Density of steel = 7850 kg/m3

Therefore, weight will be = 0.01 x 7850 = 78.5 kg

Detailed process for measuring weight of steel

This is a useful video for construction professionals. The video will teach you how to estimate weight of steel. In this video, two diverse formulas are applied – Density Method and D square /162 Method.

Density refers to the mass of an object that is divided with its volume. Density frequently contains units of grams per cubic centimeter (g/cm3). Keep in mind, grams mean a mass and cubic centimeters mean a volume (the identical volume as 1 milliliter).

As density is mass per unit volume, the density of a metal is measured by submerging it in an identified amount of water and computing how much the water increases. It is the volume of the metal. Its mass is calculated with a scale. The unit for density is gm/cm3.

How to develop stairs – Some useful tricks

By watching this construction video tutorial, one can sharpen his/her knowledge for developing stairs. The video also provides detailed information on how to measure the individual riser height by separating it into the total height among the lower and upper floors as well as estimate individual part perfectly.

While developing stairs, focus should be given on proper layout and some theoretically delicate calculations. Stairs must adhere to stringent building codes to maintain proper safety and climbing comfort.

There are three prime components in a standard staircase like stringers, treads and risers. Stringers, generally cut from 2 x 12s, which belong to the sloped boards for providing support to the other components and bearing the weight of people walking on the stairs. They're usually arranged 16 in. on center. While defining the width of the staircase, wider width is preferred as people can wal on wide staircases securely and comfortably.

Treads build the top surface of every step, and risers are set up directly below the front lip of each tread. Some stairs don't contain risers but it should be avoided as risers safeguard the uncovered endgrain of the notched stringers from the weather.

How to measure Reinforcement with column & footing

This construction video provides step-by-step guidelines on estimation of Reinforcement with column and footing as per construction drawing. The video will be very useful for foundation design.

Reinforcement is essential for reinforced concrete members like footings, beams, columns, slabs, lintels etc. It is recommended to estimate reinforcement quantity before tendering phase for measuring cost of project or construction work roughly.

If working drawings and schedules for the reinforcement are unavailable, then it is required to create an estimate of the projected quantities. The quantities are usually defined according to the requirements of the Standard method of measurement of building works.

How to estimate the amount of concrete for pouring a L shaped concrete slab

This construction video briefly explains how to estimate the concrete quantity essential for pouring a L shaped concrete slab in the ground having splayed edge beam and a rebated edge.

Concrete slabs refer to floor systems of concrete and steel reinforcing. These are built on the ground. There are different types of concrete slabs which range from slab on ground, stiffened raft slab, footing slab, waffle raft slab, infill slab.

Edge rebates should be placed in the edge-stiffening beam when exterior walls belong to masonry veneer or complete masonry. A check out from the edge beam will produce a flange for the brick to hinge on under the top of the slab. This extra protection is taken to stop surface run-off water from inflowing the building.

The rebate must be flashed and weep holes are arranged in the masonry. The weep holes should be placed at a least distance of 1.2 metres so that the water can be blown out and left from the wall and the slab.

How To Design Column With Excel

This excellent construction video will be very useful for Civil Engineers to learn the step-by-step processes for designing various types of axially loaded RCC column. By applying this construction sheet the reinforced concrete designers can simplify the designing the reinforced concrete columns like (braced, unbraced, slender, short, pinned, fixed etc).

The designers can estimate the necessary column reinforcement. Verify column for compression, bending and bi-axial bending. The Spreadsheet can also examine column slenderness and applies supplementary moments. It contains column cross-section diagram for recognizing efficiently.
