REBARS Is A Spreadsheet Program To Determine Reinforcing Bar Development And Splice Lengths For Steel Reinforcement

"REBARS" is a MS-Excel based spreadsheet program useful for ascertaining reinforcing bar development and splice lengths specially, the development lengths and splice lengths for straight bars in tension as well as compression. Besides, the development length for standard hook bars is calculated. The provisions for development and splice lengths are contained in high seismic risk applications by adhering ACI 318-05. There also exists a worksheet that consists of reinforcing bar data tables. This version is developed on the basis of the ACI 318-05 Code.

Program Assumptions and Limitations:

1. This program abides by the methods and guidelines of the ACI 318-05 Building Code, Chapters 12 and 21.

2. The "Calc Development" worksheet, for a specified reinforcing bar size, establishes the straight development and splice lengths toward a "top" bar and an "other" bar in tension, the straight development and splice lengths for the bar in compression, and the tension development length of the bar as a standard hook, all at once. A comprehensive table of reinforcing bar development and splice lengths is also generated for #3 over #18 bars.

3. The "Rebar Data" worksheet includes tables of reinforcing bar data having different bar properties, reinforcing bar areas on the basis of spacing, tension development and splice lengths for straight bars, tension development lengths for 90 degree standard hooks, tension lap splice criteria, compression development and splice lengths for straight bars, maximum spacing for column ties, and different plain welded wire fabric properties.

4. This program covers several “comment boxes” which consist of diversified information along with clarifications of input or output items, equations applied, data tables, etc.

Yakov Polyakov has developed GoBeam 2014, the exclusive spreadsheet based software, for construction professionals. This easy to use software can be very effective for constant beam analysis.

This useful construction program contains some handy features like static and moving loads, support settlements, non-linear analysis of beam on elastic foundation and influence lines analysis as well as flexible and column support conditions, hinges and variable beam.

Support for Modeling functionalities :-

  • Up to 100 spans
  • Concentrated and linear loads
  • Support displacement load
  • Free or fixed ends of the beam
  • Column supports (above or below)
  • Elastic and compression only supports
  • In-span hinges (moment release)
  • Variable beam stiffness within a span
  • Sway frame option (for beams with columns)

    Functionality:

  • Static analysis
  • Beam on elastic foundation non-linear analysis
  • Support settlement analysis
  • Convey load analysis for user-defined lane+truck type of loads. Standards loads like HL93, CL-625, M 1600, Cooper E90 and others are included in truck database.
  • Influence lines of forces, support reactions and deflections
  • Multiple load cases
  • Load combinations
  • Force envelopes
  • Section properties calculator
  • SI and US customary units

Renovation Construction Budget Spreadsheet

Renovation Construction Budget Spreadsheet
Implementing renovations, alterations or modifications in a construction requires a precisebudget planning. Whether it is a major change or a minor one, line item construction budget spreadsheet helps in preparing cost estimates in an organized and effective manner.

This spreadsheet is very simple to use. Users just need to fill out estimated and actual costs in the yellow cells with budget projections for each of the applicable line items. The rest of the cells are calculatedautomatically. As the project progresses, estimators can use the "Actual Cost" and "Change Order" columns to track their expenditures in relation to their budget projections. The various line items that must be considered to obtain the Total Project Cost include:

Sticks and Bricks: Demolition, New foundation and footings, ConcreteFlatwork- Interior, Foundation repair, Waterproofing, Structural remediation, Termite treatment, Masonry- Tuckpoint/ Repair, Carpentry- Rough Framing, Electrical Service, Water Service, Doors and Windows, Electrical wiring, Doors, Flooring, Painting, Appliances, Miscellaneous Building Materials, etc.

Site: Excavation and Grading, Site improvements, Fencing, Landscaping, etc.

Professional: Consultants like Accountant, Architect, Structural, and others.

Development: Property Acquisition, Property Inspections, Taxes, Insurance, Monthly Utilities like Electric, Gas, Security, Water. Sales Commission, Developer Fee, etc.

Construction Contingency: It is also necessary to provide accurate value for item estimate, unit cost, unit, accepted bid, actual cost, difference and other particulars to attain comprehensive renovation construction budget.

How to estimate and construct your own house

What is the cost of building a house? It is around $80 to $120 per sq ft or may be more completely based on its size, design, quality, shape and location – the professional says. This cost is depending on location only.

The selling price:
  • 25% material,
  • 25% labor,
  • 25% land cost,
  • 12.5% builder profit,
  • 12.5% builder overhead, which includes the cost of running their business, construction financing costs, and the new home's marketing and sales costs.
But the builders have to take it in mind that the material, labor, land, and overhead costs when estimating the costs ofbuilding a new home. For the costly roof and windows and other expensive building material, bid will be high. All this compromising and cost balancing is done in the planning stage of construction.

In Carl Heldmann’s page, the builders can get a great, user friendly FREE cost estimating software called Cost to Build Calculator that utilizes the latest in construction estimating software.

For more accurate cost estimating read Cost Estimating Explained page and spreadsheet page.

The cost to build calculator can compute cost per square foot is due to many variables, including different types of foundations, roof pitches, quality of building materials, home design, design and number of windows, and so on. The National Association of Home Builders in their most recent report shows the current average cost to build a house is $94.54 per sq.

There are some examples:-

Four examples are set here that ho
  • 2,000 sq. ft., simple design = $80 per sq ft = $160,000. Built on a $80,000 lot. With an appraisal of $320,000, if you decide to be your own general contractor, you might save $80,000 or more (12.5% builder profit, and 12.5% builder overhead).
  • 2,200 sq ft steeper roof, 3 car garage, stone trim, etc. = $90 per sq ft = $198,000. Built on a $100,000 lot. Appraisal of $398,000 = you might save $99,000 or more.
  • 2,400 sq ft, more glass, porch, hip roof, etc = $100 per sq ft = $240,000. Built on a $120,000 lot. Appraisal of $480,000 = you might save $120,000 or more.
  • 2,600 sq ft, more complex design & costs = $120 per sq ft = $312,000. Built on a $156,000 lot. Appraisal of $624,000 = you might save $156,000 or more.
