Post River Software introduced Asphalt Pro mobile applications for asphalt contractors

Post River Software introduced Asphalt Pro mobile applications. It is free and useful for professional asphalt contractors and inspectors to examine and quality control in the job site through smartphone technology. The tool consists of standard material and cost estimator as well as a complete set of tools to go with workflow and inspection practices for field application. These may range from mix yield underrun/overrun calculators, tack and seal distance calculators & rate validators; and visualizers to balance plant, truck, paver and roller capacities.

The one of the most important features of Asphalt Pro app is the Balanced Production Tool. It facilitates to provide a persistent pour of mix to the paver. The Seal Application tool comes up with a productive way for shot distance computation and rock lands for sealcoat processes. It has also the to validate those rates once the seal has been positioned. The application also contains project documentation capabilities. The project team will be able to detect any problem associated with a project, snap a photo and include a description as well as a station location. For confirming exactness, every photo is GPS and time stamped.

Go through the following link to download the application www.itunes.apple.com

The Asphalt Pro application contains the following exclusive features:-
  • Cost Estimator for small projects, parking lots and change orders
  • Work out Mix Yield and make a comparison to project estimates to detect overruns or underruns
  • Compute Tack and Seal distances facilitating application operations as well as validating rates for inspection duties
  • Modify any parameters for better production, enhance efficiency and minimize constraints
  • Snap, arrange and distribute digital images of issues associated with the project with GPS and time coding
  • Contains six conversion calculators containing units for every value required by a contractor and inspector in the jobsite in both US and Metric
  • All calculations can be sent back to the office through email for documentation, updating supervisors or for general project record keeping
  • Cost Estimator for small projects, parking lots and change orders
  • Each function has a help screen to assist users

An useful collaboration between The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress & construction management schools

The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress has made an educational joint venture with the construction management schools of Auburn University, Auburn, Ala.; Colorado State University, Fort Collins; and University of Florida, Gainesville.

Through this alliance both have decided to perform mutually for covering additional roofing-oriented curriculum into construction management undergraduate degree programs as well as arranging scholarships to students and faculty. Besides there will be arrangements for expanding internship programs amid roofing contracting companies, manufacturers and distributors.

The students can access these scholarships and internship programs next to 2014-15 academic year. As a minimum an individual student at each of the three schools will obtain one $5,000 scholarship as well as supplementary competitive scholarships. Additionally, the faculty members can also avail the scholarships for work concerning the partnership, and up to eight internships will be offered for the summer of 2014.

This affiliation provides some great advantages to the roofing sectors as the students can get a deep insight about career opportunities in roofing and they realize the significance of roofing though they follow other careers.

For getting more updates regarding the Alliance or the new program, contact Bennett Judson, the Alliance's executive director, at (847) 299-9070, ext. 7513 or

Some cutting age building materials to make your construction long lasting

Now-a-days several energy efficient building materials arrive in the construction marketplace. These renewable, recycled materials can give birth a superior structure that can combat with the wind and rain with tight envelope.
Initially these materials can increase building cost by 20-30% but in the long run the energy efficient building materials will result in minimizing the cost of heating and cooling and builder/developer can recover the excess money within a few years.
Let’s have a look on these energy efficient building materials:-
Recycled steel: Customized steel beams and panels can perform as the superior substitutes for decade old wood beams to protect your building from high winds and earthquakes as steel framing contains stronger durability. It has been observed that a 2,000-square-foot (186-square-meter) house involves 40 or 50 trees to construct, a frame made by recycled steel would need no more than the material that comes from six scrapped cars.
No less than 65 tons (59 metric tons) of scrap steel are recycled each year. Recycling scrap decreases the energy generated in forming the steel by 75 percent, and it saves space in landfills as well.
